Thionck Essyl is a commune of Senegal. It is located in the department of Bignona, in the area of Ziguinchor or area of Casamance. Casamance is an area located at the south of the republic of Senegal from which it is separated by a small anglophone state, Gambia. The Casamance river with its affluents constitutes a vast estuary of 250 000 ha. At the edge of the river, an old vain colonial city, Ziguinchor, a little forgotten tourists since the political disturbances of the years 1980 à1990, had the appearance of a regional capital. All this green area, considered as the attic of Senegal, is however smelled badly-liked, suffering of its fatal geographical insulation for its trade. To 65 km of Ziguinchor, in the North-West, Thionck-Essyl is a village of 11000 inhabitants; its insulation preserves all its authenticity of large village to astonishing hospitality, concerned of its traditions.
